Prepared Public Speaking

The Prepared Public Speaking category challenges contestants to craft and deliver a compelling speech that informs, persuades, or inspires. Participants will be judged on clarity, articulation, persuasiveness, structure, confidence, and time management. A strong command of rhetorical techniques and audience engagement is essential.

To further test their depth of knowledge and reasoning skills, contestants may complete an orator knowledge assessment and participate in a Q&A defense round after their speech. Extemporaneous Public Speaking

In this category, participants are required to deliver a speech with little preparation time, typically on a topic given just minutes before their performance. This tests their ability to think on their feet, structure their thoughts quickly, and communicate clearly and effectively.

The focus is on spontaneity and the ability to articulate ideas coherently under pressure. Judges will assess the speaker’s ability to engage the audience, as well as their use of language and presentation style. This category suits individuals who thrive in dynamic and challenging environments.

Spoken Word Recitation

The Spoken Word Recitation category celebrates the power of rhythm, storytelling, and emotion in spoken word performance. Contestants will be judged on their delivery, expression, originality, and ability to connect with the audience through vivid language and compelling themes.

Public Debate
