Our Mission
The HBCU Oratorical Challenge is dedicated to empowering Historically Black College students by providing a platform to showcase their oratory skills. Our mission is to cultivate a vibrant community of thinkers, speakers, and leaders who can articulate their thoughts with clarity and confidence.
Through this competition, we aim to inspire students to engage in critical thinking and public discourse, fostering a new generation of articulate leaders ready to tackle the challenges of tomorrow.
Our History
The HBCU Oratorical Challenge is a program of the DreamHouse Foundation. It was founded in 2024 to address the need for a dedicated space where students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities can demonstrate their public speaking talents. Since its inception, the competition has grown to include various categories such as Prepared Public Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking, Spoken Word, and Debate.
Over the years, we have seen a remarkable increase in participation, reflecting the growing interest and commitment of students to hone their skills in public speaking. Our history is rich with stories of success and inspiration, as we continue to uphold the legacy of excellence in oratory.
